I have to stop chasing clouds.
I wasn’t very good at it, to begin with.
the riches that pour out of them
isn’t a promise – it’s a taunt.
running in place for years
gets exhausting.
when you chase clouds
your body gives up
but they hand out coin sparingly
enough to force you to continue.
your skeleton creaks and roars
with every transaction.
the thunder in the fog
is a warning – remember that.
clouds don’t want to be tamed.
they will evaporate with the slightest touch.
when you’re about to capture a cloud
approach with caution.
them clouds have poison
within their heavenly fibers.
smog will creep inside of your lungs
infect you directly from within
and corrupt you even deeper than that.
your soul is what they are after.
the tantalizing clouds hate you.
but you keeping chasing.
forever.
